Most small scrapes and cuts don’t need medical attention. Although, you may want to see a doctor if it doesn’t seem to heal after trying these tips:
Stop the bleeding by applying a gauze pad or tissue. If blood soaks through, place another piece of gauze on top and keep applying pressure. Elevate the area if possible.
Remove large debris with sterilized tweezers and clean area with water (alcohol, soap, iodine and hydrogen peroxide can irritate skin). Apply an antibiotic ointment after and cover with a bandage.
But keep an eye on it. If you see signs of infection, like continued redness or pus, call your doctor. But if you’ve properly cleaned and patched it up, you can most likely get back out there.
